What does enlightenment mean to you?

Posted on Jul 12th, 2009 by will : transformer will
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 12, 2009:

Enlightenment means to me using the inherent intelligence that is called consciousness and its natural ability to respond to the magic of life, as opposed to the immature emotional reactions that one has, because things aren't the way that one wishes them to be. What are called the adults, are merely large children seeking more, attempting satiate a want that has no end.-------------------------------------------

Enlightenment is not something one has and another does not, because that is a sales technique that rewards the self-important (I), inflating it with hubris, or as a blessing From a God they worship in the form of riches. Enlightenment, like consciousness is not something one has, because the self cannot be separated from consciousness, therefore, Enlightenment is not something one has, but rather what one is.

I can see what you're saying and happen to agree with a lot of it, however it will take a lot more enlightenment for me to totally understand it.

Sandi, I think the word enlightened is misused and misunderstood. I think also, that it is used as ammunition to elevate oneself and put down others, creating a concept of prestige and position that can be sold to those who are searching for meaning and seeking to fill the void that is created by the experience of emptiness in life.——————————————————————————————I say, we are born enlightened and then whipped, shaped, molded and conditioned to conform to the ways and means of those who instruct us that who we are, is not okay. From the gitgo, we are in a hopeless position of being transformed into a product that reacts to stimuli in a predictable manner. The joy of life and its magical adventure is usurped as the automatic reactions have been inculcated in us. Ever notice how little vitality, joy, and wonder you see expressed in the people around you, or the ultimate litmus test, in yourself? Why is that? We only have from this moment to the last moment to experience the magic of life. So why not now.—————————————————————–Being enlightened from the beginning, then conditioned to conform to the whims of others we have become a bifurcated consciousness. By that I mean we have our enlightened thoughts, so to speak, which are really “our” thoughts which we have learned to suppress during our indoctrination process. Then we have all the should’s and should nots that have been inculcated in us. We then swing back and forth from our thoughts, to others thoughts and ideas, creating confusion and unrest within our gray matter. Some of us are aware of this division, which gives us the possibility of living life passionately, with unbounded energy ,if only we commit ourselves, to ourselves. But if we just vacillate, we join the ranks of the walking dead, or the upright dead. I think that life is to be lived from within, not as a march, or parade following imaginary leaders. Helen Keller said; “life is either a daring adventure, or it’s nothing.” I can certainly attest experiencing the latter, but I am committed experiencing the former.——————————————————My thoughts only, and that intention only……………………………………………………………

That is why only little children can see and talk to Faeries. Our minds have become as hard and compressed as concrete blocks, no wonder we have such a hard time feeling any real joy of life.

And there are some adults who have their original minds intact and are enjoying the magic of life with passion, vigor, vitality and aliveness each day. Why shouldn't we join the party that we were born into, instead of celebrating that one day that is called our birthday?

Sandi -

I am doing yard work today and came in for a big drink of water.  Naturally, I couldn't resis at peek at Gaia.  In regards to your statement, “That is why only little children can see and talk to Faeries” I have to disagree.

Please follow this LINK to my response to Jeff yesterday when we were talking about lenses (as it relates to enlightenment).  There you will find a link to his photograph of Columbine.  Once you follow that link, you will see why I disagree that ” … only little children can see and talk to Faeries.”
